The Granny Smith Apple tree is a moderately growing fruit tree. The apples have a waxy-smooth green colored skin with small white lenticels. . The flesh is firm and white in color and generally non-browning after dehydration. Granny Smith has more tartness than most other varieties. This variety of apple can be stored as long as 9 months in a 32 degrees F atmosphere with little to no change in quality. The apples are perfect in baking pies or making sauce.
