The Akane Apple is a moderately growing fruit tree. Akane’s fruit is quite attractive. The medium sized fruit is bright red in color with a juicy, white flesh. The fruit ripens in mid to late September. The Liberty, Spartan, and Gala varieties are all suggested pollinators for Akane. Akane is a cross between the Jonathon and Worchester Pearmin varieties. The flowers bloom to a light colored pink each spring. The foliage is green during the spring and summer. In the fall, the leaves are orange, red, or yellow.
